U.S. ambassador to the UN, Mike Waltz, says American rapper Nicki Minaj has been invited by the Trump administration to address a United Nations conference on the alleged killing of Christians in Nigeria.
American rapper Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, popularly known as Nicki Minaj, has been invited by the Trump administration to address a United Nations (UN) conference over the alleged killing of Christians in Nigeria.
The U.S. ambassador to the UN, Mike Waltz, confirmed this during an appearance on Fox & Family on Monday. He said the rapper will also meet with experts to discuss the situation.
“We’ve invited her to speak at the UN and also talk to our experts and others who are working on this matter,” Mr Waltz said.
The invitation follows Minaj’s praise of former President Donald Trump’s decision to redesignate Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern over what he described as a “Christian genocide.”
Mr Waltz criticised former President Joe Biden for removing Nigeria from the list in 2019, adding that “Christians are the most persecuted believers in the world.”
