Ten Reasons Why The State of Our Union Is Strong
Happy 65th Independence Day, Nigeria! The State of Our Union is strong for the following reasons:
One: Within two years, Nigeria went from being Africa’s biggest petrol importer to becoming West Africa’s largest exporter of the same product.
Two: For the first time in over a decade, Nigeria has exceeded its OPEC quota for four consecutive months and is set to do the same for the fifth month, producing an average of 1.71 million Barrels Per Day.
Three: Oil theft has been reduced to less than 10,000 Barrels Per Day, a sixteen-year low..
Four: By August this year, we met our revenue target for the year, as contained in the 2025 Appropriation ACT (Federal Budget)—a first in our history.
Five: The Nigerian Stock Exchange rose above 130,000 All Share Index for the first time, and again, for the first time, Nigeria now has a ₦10 trillion company on our exchange.
Six: The Nigerian Naira has appreciated to below ₦1500 to $1, a five-month high, and keeps appreciating.
Seven: After a record trade surplus last year, Nigeria appears set to beat our 2024 figure. Our trade surplus rose 44.3% in Q2 to ₦7.46 trillion, up from ₦5.17 trillion in Q1.
Eight: Our unity is set to be enhanced, even as economic productivity is going to be increased by the progress being made in cross-Nigerian roads like the ₦13 trillion 1068-kilometre Illela-Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway, and the ₦15 trillion 750-kilometre Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.
Nine: Nigeria has improved its Transparency International Corruption Perception Index and Institute for Economics and Peace in its annual Global Terrorism Index.
Ten: Our economy expanded by $67 billion in just two years, moving Nigeria’s GDP from a ₦269.29 trillion economy on May 29, 2023, when Asiwaju became President, to ₦372.8 trillion today.
Nigeria is a great nation that is improving and growing stronger under President Bola Tinubu’s dynamic and patriotic leadership.
One of the symbols of our Independence is our currency, the Naira. The Naira has been floated. You and I now determine its value!
When you build with Dangote, the Naira goes up. When you use Dangote petrol, the economy improves. Let us not undermine Nigerian companies, like the Dangote Group. When we do, we undermine our own economic independence.
When you call with Glo, the Naira goes up. Therefore:
Aso oke from Iseyin
Design from Abuja
Coral from Warri
Embroidery from Suleja
Walking stick from Sapele
Swagger from Itsekiri
Drive Nord
Call with Glo
Build with Dangote and BUA
Eat breakfast with Nasco
Lunch and dinner with rice grown in Nigeria
Go on dates at Tantalisers and Suya spots
Drink Zobo
Celebrate with palm wine
Shop at local markets
Fly Ibom Air and other Nigerian carriers over Air France, KLM, or Lufthansa
Eat cassava bread over foreign wheat bread
Watch Shooting Stars and Kano Pillars
See Nollywood movies at Silverbird
Stream Nigerian music
Wear aso oke, Kafuna textiles, Adire, agbada, or Babanriga
Believe in Nigeria and #GrowNairaBuyNaija. Once again, a happy 65th Independence anniversary to all Nigerians.
