Nigeria will play Gabon in a one-leg CAF play-off in Morocco on November 13, with the winner advancing to the intercontinental play-off for the 2026 World Cup.
CAF has announced that Nigeria will face Gabon in the African play-off round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. The matches, to be held on neutral ground in Morocco, will determine which nation advances to the intercontinental play-off.
After a commanding 4-0 victory over Benin in Uyo — highlighted by Victor Osimhen’s hat-trick — Nigeria secured its spot in the play-offs alongside Cameroon, DR Congo, and Gabon. The draws showed Nigeria vs Gabon on November 13, 2025; Cameroon will face DR Congo on the same date.
These are all single-leg ties, with winners meeting in a final on November 16 to decide who claims Africa’s sole remaining slot in the intercontinental play-off. The African play-off winner will then advance to the six-team intercontinental tournament held in Mexico, where two teams qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
