Nigerian Army 2026 recruitment: How to apply for short service intake

The Nigerian Army has announced the commencement of applications for its Short Service Combatant Commission (SSCC) Course 49/2026, inviting qualified Nigerians to apply as commissioned officers.

According to the Army, the online recruitment, which opened on Thursday, October 9, 2025, will close on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. The exercise is open to both serving military personnel and eligible civilians who meet the required criteria.

Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth and aged between 23 and 27 years as of January 9, 2026. They must be medically, mentally, and physically fit and free from criminal convictions. Civilian applicants are required to present attestation letters from recognized officials, valid educational certificates, and an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.

The Army noted that successful candidates will serve in combat and combat support arms after completion of training. Interested applicants are to visit recruitment.army.mil.ng to apply under the SSC 49/2026 section.
