Nigerian man stabbed to death in London apartment, suspects in custody

A man and a woman have been formally charged with murder in connection with the tragic death of 26‑year‑old Nigerian Ayowale Aladejana.

The Metropolitan Police have charged two individuals in the fatal stabbing of 26-year-old Nigerian, Ayowale Aladejana, who was found wounded in his apartment in New Cross, southeast London, on Saturday, August 2, 2025.

Officers responded to reports of a man with stab wounds at a residential address on Monson Road at 19:26 hrs. Despite efforts by emergency responders, Aladejana was pronounced dead at the scene from a stab wound to the chest.

A 23-year-old man, Ben Wazabanga of Fairfax Road, Bedford, was charged with murder and possession of a knife. A 23-year-old woman, Ronique Belfon of Morinsbury Road, Bedford, was also charged with murder. Both were remanded to appear in court.

Detective Chief Inspector Lucie Card said, “Our thoughts are with Ayowale’s family and friends at this difficult time. I understand this incident will be concerning and we are carrying out a fast-paced and thorough investigation to establish the circumstances.”
