DSS Arraigns Nine Over Benue, Plateau Killings
The Department of State Services on Wednesday arraigned nine persons before a Federal High Court in Abuja over alleged complicity in recent killings in Benue and Plateau states.
The nine defendants, listed in six separate charges, each entered pleas to the allegations before the court.
Couple, Tout Die in Abuja Road Chase
A couple lost their lives in an auto crash on the Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway, Abuja, after being chased by roadside touts known as agberos.
One of the touts also died in the accident, which occurred between Mabushi and Bannex, an area notorious for tout activity.
Kwankwaso Open to Joining APC – Jibrin
Hon Abdulmumin Jibrin of the NNPP has said that Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, leader of the opposition party, may join the ruling APC.
Jibrin, who has met President Bola Tinubu twice recently, disclosed this on Channels TV’s Politics Today.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday accused opposition parties of dragging the APC into premature 2027 politics but stressed he remains focused on delivering good governance.

29 Die in Niger Boat Mishap
Twenty-nine passengers died in a boat accident at Malale riverfront, Borgu LGA of Niger State.
The boat, carrying 90 passengers en route Dugga for a condolence visit, had departed from Tugan Sule before the mishap.
Gunmen Attacks Displace 300 in Plateau
Gunmen attacks in Qua’an Pan LGA of Plateau State have displaced over 300 people and destroyed 30 houses.
Council spokesman Danaan Cletus Sylvanus confirmed the incident, adding that Chairman Christopher Manship was working with security agencies to restore peace.
10 Killed in Enugu Road Accidents
The Enugu State Police Command confirmed that 10 people were killed and 10 others injured in two separate accidents on the Ozalla/Four-Corner axis of the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway.
Injured victims are being treated in hospitals.
NiMet Predicts Rain, Thunderstorms Nationwide
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has forecast rain and thunderstorms across the country from Thursday to Saturday.
The outlook indicated storms with moderate rains over parts of Yobe, Kano, Jigawa and Bauchi States, while other areas will see sunshine with patches of clouds.
State Police Unavoidable – Tinubu
President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday said the creation of state police has become unavoidable to strengthen the fight against insecurity.
The declaration came as Northern elders urged him to declare a state of emergency in the region.
Naira Falls at Parallel Market, Gains Officially
The naira on Wednesday fell to N1,540/$ in the parallel market from N1,537/$ the previous day.
However, it gained in the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market, closing at N1,522/$ compared to N1,525.45/$ on Tuesday, CBN data showed.
Tinubu Orders Compulsory Health Insurance for Workers
President Bola Tinubu has directed the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to circulate a directive mandating all MDAs to enroll staff in the National Health Insurance Authority scheme, in line with the NHIA Act 2022.
He also ordered that all firms seeking public contracts must present NHIA health insurance certificates.
