DSS Brokers Peace Between Dangote, NUPENG

The Department of State Services (DSS) has brokered peace between Dangote Group and the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) following a dispute over unionisation.

After a closed-door meeting at DSS headquarters in Abuja, NUPENG leadership directed its members to suspend the nationwide strike.


APC Chair Says More Governors Will Join Party Before 2027

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has said more governors will join the ruling party before the 2027 general election.

Speaking during an expanded stakeholders’ meeting in Yenagoa, Yilwatda claimed President Bola Tinubu’s performance has attracted defections from governors and senators.


Flood Sweeps Away Three in Kaduna

At least three people have been swept away in Zaria, Kaduna State, following a heavy downpour.

An eyewitness, Mustapha Badamasi of Tudun Jukun, said one corpse was recovered while two persons remain missing.


Senate Rejects Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Return

The Senate has rejected Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s request to resume legislative duties after her suspension.

In a letter by Acting Clerk Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, the Senate said her suspension remains until the Court of Appeal rules on her case.


FG Rules Out Immediate Implementation of 5% Fuel Tax

The Federal Government has said it has no immediate plan to implement the 5% Petroleum Products Tax.

Finance Minister Wale Edun told journalists in Abuja that though the levy is in the Tax Administration Act, 2025, implementation is not imminent.


Naira Gains in Official and Parallel Markets

The Naira on Tuesday appreciated to N1,525 per dollar in the parallel market, stronger than Monday’s N1,530.

At the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM), the currency also gained, trading at N1,506.5 per dollar.


House Gives Transport Minister 48 Hours Over Train Derailment

The House of Representatives Committee on Land Transport has summoned the Minister of Transportation, Sa’idu Alkali, to appear within 48 hours.

The summon follows his failure to attend a hearing into last week’s Abuja-Kaduna train derailment involving 618 passengers.

NUPENG Suspends Nationwide Strike

The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has suspended its nationwide strike following a peace deal with Dangote Group.

NUPENG President Williams Akporeha confirmed the suspension, saying Dangote Refinery agreed to unionise its drivers after a DSS-mediated meeting.


FG Explains Sharing Formula for 5% Fuel Tax

The Tinubu administration says proceeds from the proposed 5% fuel tax will be used for road maintenance, with 40% for federal roads and 60% for states.

Committee chair Taiwo Oyedele said the levy, created under a 2007 law, has no fixed date for implementation.
