Nigerians have criticised FCT minister Nyesom Wike for taking his sons to the Asia Pacific Cities Summit in Dubai, accusing him of abusing public office.
Backlash has followed the decision of Nyesom Wike, minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to attend the 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayors’ Forum in Dubai with his two sons, Joaquin and Jordan.
The summit, organised by the Brisbane City Council, Australia, aims to strengthen city-level collaboration and global partnerships. Wike travelled alongside senior officials, including Richard Dauda and Benedict Daudu.
His media aide, Lere Olayinka, posted pictures of Wike and his sons at the event, captioned, “When e reach your turn, carry your enemies travel.”
The post triggered outrage online, with critics accusing Wike of turning governance into a “political monarchy.” Activist Aisha Yesufu commented, “Wike is doing what Tinubu started.”
This is not the first time Wike has faced criticism over his sons after denying land allocation allegations in July.
