The report noted that ₦1.95 trillion was spent by the federal government to subsidise electricity in 2024, bridging the gap between allowed and cost-reflective tariffs. It also revealed that over 62% of installed generation capacity was unavailable, with daily average output from grid-connected plants at 4,853.69MW.
“Total power generation for the year was 37,093.70 gigawatt-hours (GWh), averaging 4,222.87 megawatt-hours per hour (MWh/h). Hydropower plants contributed 11,469.85GWh, representing 30.92 per cent,” the report stated.
NERC issued 168 licenses and handled 16,882 complaints, resolving 28.78%. DisCos logged over 1.18 million complaints. The Commission’s forums resolved 83.06% of 8,351 appeals, with billing and metering as the major concerns.
