A leaked Nigerian Medical Association report has revealed that detained IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu is suffering from multiple health complications that could become life-threatening without urgent medical intervention.
A recent medical examination by the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has revealed serious concerns about the deteriorating health of detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
According to a document obtained by SaharaReporters titled “Nigerian Medical Association Independent Investigative (Multidisciplinary) Medical Report on Mazi Nnamdi Kanu,” and dated September 23, 2025, the 58-year-old is battling multiple complications, including severe fatigue, blurred vision, chest pain, urinary difficulties, recurrent nosebleeds, numbness in the limbs, and episodes of blood in urine.
The report, prepared by a team of eight medical experts, confirmed that Kanu has been hypertensive for over a decade and is on a complex medication regimen. “He developed generalised fatigue and muscle weakness… recurrent headache… frequent urination, urgency, and incomplete bladder emptying,” the report stated.
Doctors also noted eye problems suggesting early retinal damage and numbness in both hands, as well as two previous episodes of spontaneous hematuria indicating possible kidney issues.
The report concluded that Kanu’s condition requires urgent medical review and consistent monitoring, warning that delayed intervention could pose a serious risk to his health.
