IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu has accused the Federal Government of judicial manipulation and listed top politicians, military chiefs, and government officials—including Malami, Wike, Umahi, Danjuma, Buratai, and Sanwo-Olu—as witnesses in his ongoing terrorism trial.

The detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has accused the Federal Government of using the judiciary to perpetuate what he described as “executive and judicial fraud” aimed at keeping him in detention indefinitely.

In an open letter on Monday, Kanu alleged that since his extraordinary rendition from Kenya in 2021, the government and the courts had conspired to deny him justice.

“Instead of the federal government to go on appeal as the law mandated, the former Attorney-General (Abubakar Malami) went behind closed doors and got IPOB tagged a terrorist group in an ex parte proceeding,” he said.

Kanu also cited several rulings declaring his detention unlawful, including those by the Court of Appeal and Federal High Court, which found his rendition and continued custody unconstitutional. He accused the judiciary of bias and connivance, saying, “My case is deliberately being shielded from judges committed to doing justice.”

Meanwhile, in a fresh motion filed before Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja, Kanu listed 23 witnesses for his defence, including Malami, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, Defence Minister Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (rtd), ex-Army Chief Gen. Tukur Buratai (rtd), and Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Hope Uzodinma.

He asked the court for 90 days to conclude his defence, promising to “testify on his own behalf” and “ensure justice is manifestly seen to be done.”

In a related development, a magistrate court in Abuja ordered the remand of Kanu’s special counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, and 12 others arrested during a protest against his continued detention.

They are to remain in Kuje Correctional Centre until their arraignment on October 24.
