Nnamdi Kanu’s Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, is reportedly in critical condition at Kuje Prison after being arrested and allegedly assaulted during the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest in Abuja.
Nnamdi Kanu’s Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, is reportedly in critical condition at the Kuje Correctional Centre, Abuja, days after his arrest during the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest.
Ejimakor, who was detained alongside 12 others, including Nnamdi Kanu’s brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, was allegedly beaten and teargassed by police before being transferred to the State CID and later remanded by Senior Magistrate Abubakar Umar Sai’id.
According to Barrister Maxwell Opara, who visited him in custody, Ejimakor is “recuperating slowly” but remains in a fragile state. Prison medics have fixed a collar brace around his neck, and there are reports that his condition may require hospital transfer.
Sources told *SaharaReporters* that Ejimakor collapsed shortly after the Magistrate failed to sign his bail bond, 24 hours after granting bail. “He could not sit straight or stand,” a source said, adding that prison nurses were providing limited medical attention.
Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore, who was arraigned alongside Ejimakor and others, described the detention as “politically motivated.”
Ejimakor’s legal team has called for his immediate release and proper medical care, warning that his health is deteriorating rapidly.
