The Director of Mobilisation for the Obidient Movement, Morris Monye, has resigned, citing unmet goals, lack of funding, and absence of communication from the group’s leader, Peter Obi.

The Director of Mobilisation of the Obidient Movement, Morris Monye, has resigned from his position, citing unfulfilled objectives and lack of financial support from the movement’s leadership.

According to a report from THE WHISTLER NEWSPAPER, Monye announced his resignation in a statement on his X handle on Thursday, blaming Mr Peter Obi, the National Leader of the Obidient Movement and 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, for the failure to achieve set goals.

“Almost a year down the line, most of our short, medium, and long-term plans have not been met. I won’t be part of optics and no work,” Monye said. “The poor showing at the Anambra election has also made my position untenable.”

He revealed that he personally financed nationwide mobilisation activities, including travels, logistics, voter awareness, and support for local structures, without any backing from the leadership or Obi. “No money was given to the Directorate of Mobilisation. There’s no bank account even for the directorate. In fact, Mr Peter Obi has never asked what we are doing in mobilisation — no communication, nothing,” he added.

Monye listed his major contributions, including developing an online registration platform, reviving support groups, and launching the Obidient NextGen university network.

He said he would now focus on his business pursuits and further education at Oxford or Cambridge University while continuing to advocate for governance and electoral reform.

“You can’t run a campaign simply from general goodwill. This is not 2023,” Monye warned.
