He said, “This must not go unpunished. I want those responsible to face justice. No parent should experience the agony of losing a child so needlessly.
Odunayo Alade, father of slain teenager Kehinde, broke down recounting how police gunfire killed his son during a traffic pursuit with OYRTMA officials. “My son screamed ‘Daddy!’ before his twin yelled he’d been shot,” Alade told News Central, explaining he was driving against traffic only to get his children to school on time.
Kehinde, who would have turned 14 in November, died en route to University College Hospital. The SS1 student was among five children in the car when an officer fired the fatal shot. “I’ve sacrificed everything for my kids since their mother left,” said Alade, a single father who rejected remarriage to prioritize his children.
The bereaved father demanded accountability: “This must not go unpunished. My son had big dreams.” The IGP has ordered an investigation into the incident, which occurred during a joint police-OYRTMA operation. Kehinde’s elder brother is currently writing WASSCE exams, compounding the family’s trauma.
