Lagos Speaker Mudashiru Obasa has said he may pursue a governorship bid in 2027, stressing that the final decision rests with his party.
Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has said he is considering life beyond the Assembly and may pursue a governorship bid if endorsed by his party. Speaking on TVC on Thursday, Obasa admitted the ambition remains but stressed that the decision “is about consultation, consensus, and the leadership’s direction.”
The lawmaker recalled that his political journey from councillor to Speaker naturally points towards the Senate or governorship. However, he ruled out a fifth term in the Assembly, saying, “Not really,” when asked about re-election.
Obasa, who recently overcame a leadership crisis, noted that while ambitions are important, the broader party strategy will guide his next move.
