Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has donated laptops, printers, and ₦6 million to Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State. The school was the site of the 2014 abduction of over 200 girls by Boko Haram.

In a statement on his verified X handle, Obi said the intervention followed a request from activist Aisha Yesufu, who revealed the school’s severe lack of basic facilities, including electricity and computers.

“With a population of over 2,500, the school had only one desktop computer,” Obi noted.

Though security concerns prevented his visit, Obi met Chibok community leaders in Abuja where he presented 10 laptops, 3 printers, and ₦2 million each for a lab, computer room, and motorised borehole.

“I promised to do more and made it clear… this was not a donation, but a sincere commitment,” he said.

Criticising government priorities, Obi added, “We must prioritise critical areas of development, education, healthcare, and pulling our people out of poverty.”
