“If the agreement is one term, I will leave on May 28, 2031—not even May 29,” Obi declared during an XSpace session that drew over 10,000 listeners.
Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has pledged to respect any coalition arrangement requiring him to serve only one term and hand over power to the North in 2031.
“If the agreement is one term, I will leave on May 28, 2031—not even May 29,” Obi declared during an XSpace session that drew over 10,000 listeners. “I am not desperate to be president. I am desperate to see Nigeria work.”
Obi criticised President Bola Tinubu’s trip to St. Lucia, calling it “out of touch” amid worsening insecurity.
“You can’t build strong international relations when your domestic house is on fire,” he said.
Rejecting claims of a 2027 joint ticket with Atiku Abubakar, Obi insisted: “If the coalition is about sharing tickets and power for its sake, count me out.”
He stressed leadership must be rooted in humility, recalling visiting victims’ funerals as Anambra governor.
“Leadership is not about flying jets. It’s about compassion,” he concluded.
