Kogi government says youths and women aiding bandits will be treated as terrorists, vowing continued crackdown in Okun land.

The Kogi State government has warned that youths aiding bandits with weapons and food supplies will henceforth be treated as terrorists.

State Security Adviser, Jerry Omadara, disclosed this during a visit to the palace of the Elegbe of Egbe, Oba Ayodele Irukera, while giving an update on security operations in Kogi West.

According to Omadara, intelligence reports revealed that some Okun youths use motorcycles to deliver arms and food to bandits in the forest. “Our youth are already involved. They used their motorcycles to supply them with weapons and ammunition in the bush,” he said. He added that about seven youths are already on government’s watchlist for working on the payroll of bandits.

He further alleged that some women and residents also provide food and information to bandits, with others paying them protection money.

Omadara stressed that government would sustain operations until communities are secure for farmers and residents.
