Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, unveiled a N750m trust fund to drive development and called for reconciliation among the Itsekiri people during his 4th coronation anniversary.
The Olu of Warri, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, on Thursday announced the launch of the Iwere Development Trust Fund with a personal contribution of N750 million, calling for reconciliation and unity among Itsekiri people.
Speaking during the 4th anniversary of his ascension to the throne, the monarch urged indigenes at home and in the diaspora to embrace peace but stressed that “without repentance, true reconciliation cannot occur.”
He added, “As long as all these conditions are in place, that door will remain open and we shall achieve the peace and progress we all desire as a United Kingdom.”
The ceremony at the royal palace in Warri was attended by Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, represented by the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Emomotimi Guwor, alongside politicians, traditional leaders, and industry figures.
The Olu pledged that the fund would drive development, urging Itsekiri sons and daughters, friends, and partners to support efforts to rebuild the kingdom.
