“The actions are clearly actuated by malice against the institution of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library.” Vitalis Ortese, the Managing Director of OOPL said.
The Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) has demanded N2.5 billion from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over its August 10 raid, calling it damaging to the reputation and business of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
At a press conference on Wednesday, Managing Director Vitalis Ortese also demanded N1 billion for injuries and losses suffered by 93 youths arrested during the “Wet & Rave Splash Extravaganza” party, where 18 vehicles and mobile devices were seized.
Ortese alleged EFCC operatives, backed by over 50 armed men, fired shots, threatened lives, and caused chaos. “The actions are unconstitutional, oppressive, and actuated by malice,” he said.
OOPL gave the EFCC and Nigeria Police seven days to pay damages, apologise publicly across major media, and return seized property or face legal action. Its legal adviser, Olumide Ayeni (SAN), said evidence, including bullet shells, showed indiscriminate shooting occurred during the operation.
