Dele Momodu, journalist and politician, has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s handling of Nigeria’s insecurity and economy, warning that only a “miracle” can save the nation.
Speaking with Sunday Sun, Momodu said: “From Jonathan to Buhari to now Tinubu, not much has changed. It’s getting worse.”
He faulted Tinubu’s decision to remove fuel subsidy on his first day in office, likening it to a doctor treating a patient without proper diagnosis. “You don’t give the patient an injection and he goes straight into a coma,” he said.
On the Rivers State political crisis, Momodu accused Tinubu of enabling “gangsterism” through support for Nyesom Wike. He described the proposed emergency rule as “daylight robbery.”
Momodu reaffirmed his loyalty to Nigeria above personal ties, stating: “I love Asiwaju, but I love Nigeria more.”
Asked about his political future, he said he would only run for president again if his party offered him the ticket freely.
On the PDP crisis, he blamed APC’s control of the judiciary, legislature, and security agencies, insisting: “If a party has cancer, you cannot treat it with Panadol.”
Despite Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s struggles, Momodu expressed disappointment at Fubara’s failure to defend himself politically.
