FCT Minister Nyesom Wike says only the PDP can truly challenge Tinubu in 2027, accusing the new coalition of exploiting public anger.

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has dismissed the newly formed opposition coalition, declaring that only the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) can credibly challenge President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

Speaking during a media parley in Abuja on Thursday, Wike accused members of the coalition of exploiting Nigerians’ frustration for political gain.

“Stop using Nigerians,” he said. “If there are people who have not been in power before and are coming with new ideas, I can listen. But not those who held power for years and did nothing.”

He criticized prominent figures in the alliance, including David Mark, Rotimi Amaechi, and Aminu Tambuwal, questioning their track records while in office.

Wike defended Tinubu’s reforms as difficult but necessary, adding, “If this President did not take certain decisions, you would have known where we would be by now.”

He concluded by noting that ethnic and religious sentiments continue to hinder meaningful political change, urging voters to focus on performance.
