Archbishop Yiman Orkwar says only terrorism sponsors should fear U.S. President Donald Trump’s warning of intervention against genocide in Nigeria.

According to Daily Post Nigeria reporting, the General Overseer of All Nations Evangelism Ministry (ANEM) and President of the Christian Association of Clergies in Nigeria (CAC-Nig), Archbishop Yiman Orkwar, has said that only the sponsors and sympathisers of terrorism should fear U.S. President Donald Trump’s warning of intervention against genocide in Nigeria.

Speaking with journalists in Makurdi, Orkwar stated, “If you are not a terrorist or a sponsor of terrorism, why should you be afraid?” He clarified that President Trump’s message was directed at terrorists, not the Nigerian government, urging authorities to cooperate with the U.S. to end insecurity.

He described ongoing killings in Benue and Plateau States as “genocide,” lamenting that Christians were being “killed, displaced, and their lands taken.” Orkwar accused successive governments of lacking the political will to act, adding, “Tinubu started as someone who wanted to act, but now he seems distracted by 2027.”

He urged the Federal Government to label armed herdsmen as terrorists, warning, “You don’t negotiate with terrorists.” The cleric said U.S. involvement should not be viewed as a threat, insisting, “Genocide is a universal concern… we should see help as an opportunity, not a threat.”
