“A court document obtained by Tribune Online has revealed the controversial UBA accounts into which the Federal Government paid allocations belonging to Osun’s 30 councils.”

A court document obtained by Tribune Online has revealed the United Bank for Africa (UBA) accounts where the Federal Government lodged allocations belonging to Osun State’s 30 Local Governments.

The funds were paid into newly opened accounts in the names of the councils by court-sacked APC chairmen and councillors. In a covering letter dated 26 September, Osun’s lead counsel, Musibau Adetunbi, SAN, warned UBA of its “duty to comply” with an interim injunction restraining it from releasing any funds.

Justice A.L. Akintola of the Oyo State High Court granted the order, ruling that delay could cause “irreversible harm.” The case was adjourned to 3 October.

The development has triggered political tension. NULGE condemned the move as “an attempt to short-change the people at the grassroots,” while the APC dismissed the alarm as partisan. The PDP demanded full disclosure of account details.

The court’s ruling has effectively frozen Osun LG funds until further hearings.
