Osun monarchs have threatened legal action against the Oluwo of Iwo unless he proves his assassination claim against the Ooni.
Traditional rulers in Ife North, Osun State, have issued a 21-day ultimatum to the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, demanding proof of his allegation that the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, conspired with his former Canadian wife to assassinate him.
Operating under the umbrella of Origbo Meje Obas, the monarchs warned that failure to substantiate the claim would result in legal action.
Acting Vice Chairman of the Ife North Traditional Council, Oba Kehinde Adesoji, the Salu of Edunabon, told journalists that the Oluwo’s comments were defamatory and an affront to the Ooni’s throne.
They insisted on a retraction of all statements made against Oba Ogunwusi, describing the poisoning allegation as criminal.
“He who alleges must prove. On this note, we are giving the Oluwo of Iwo a 21-day ultimatum… Otherwise, the Origbo Meje Obas will take legal action,” Adesoji declared.
