TikTok has removed 3.6 million videos from Nigeria in the first quarter of 2025 for violating its content policies, the company revealed in its Community Guidelines Enforcement Report. Globally, over 211 million videos were taken down — a rise from 153 million in the previous quarter.
The report noted a 50% increase in Nigeria’s content removals compared to the prior quarter. TikTok’s proactive detection rate was 98.4%, with 92.1% of videos removed within 24 hours of upload.
The platform also removed 44.7 million fake comments and 4.3 billion fake likes between January and March. “We remain vigilant in our efforts to detect external threats and safeguard the platform,” TikTok stated.
In Nigeria, 42,196 LIVE rooms were banned and 48,156 streams interrupted. Additionally, 129 accounts in West Africa were removed in March for covert activities. TikTok emphasized that LIVE content enforcement remains a top priority.
