We’ve called the embassy and filed complaints, but nothing has been resolved
More than 500 Nigerians in Qatar have reportedly been left stranded after paying ₦315,000 each for passport renewals — a fee well above official rates. The payments were made to intermediaries claiming fast-track services, yet applicants are now without renewed passports or even application receipts.
Affected individuals told Sahara Reporters: “We paid in good faith, but neither passport nor receipts were issued.” Many say they are now at risk of deportation, job loss, and inability to access essential services.
Attempts to seek help from the Nigerian Embassy in Doha have been unsuccessful. One applicant lamented: “We’ve called the embassy and filed complaints, but nothing has been resolved.”
Local authorities in Qatar have yet to comment on whether investigations into the agents are underway. Meanwhile, the Nigerian Immigration Service is urged to intervene, refund victims, and hold perpetrators accountable to restore trust and prevent further exploitation
