Gaza’s death toll has surpassed 66,000 as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu prepares to meet President Trump, who is set to propose a new ceasefire plan.

Gaza’s Health Ministry said Sunday the death toll from the Israel-Hamas war has risen to 66,005, with more than 168,000 wounded. The announcement comes a day before Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu meets U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House to discuss ending Israel’s offensive in Gaza City.

Netanyahu, under mounting global pressure, told the U.N. General Assembly Friday that Israel “must finish the job” against Hamas. Western allies are pushing for recognition of a Palestinian state, while the EU considers sanctions and cultural boycotts.

Trump, though largely supportive of Israel, has shown impatience after Israel’s bombing in Qatar earlier this month. He is expected to present a 21-point ceasefire proposal requiring the release of all hostages within 48 hours and a phased Israeli withdrawal.

Hamas said it is ready to review any official offers. Local hospitals reported fresh strikes in Nuseirat refugee camp, where at least 10 people were killed.
