Jake and Rebecca Haro were charged with murdering their infant son after inconsistencies unraveled their abduction claim.

The parents of 7-month-old Emmanuel Haro have been charged with murder after authorities linked them to a child-abuse report filed on the day he disappeared. Jake and Rebecca Haro were arrested in San Bernardino County after initially telling police their son had been abducted outside a Big 5 Sporting Goods store on August 14. Investigators later found “inconsistencies’’ in Rebecca’s account, leading to suspicions against the couple.

Riverside County sheriffs confirmed they had received a child-abuse call near the location on the same day Emmanuel vanished, though details remain sealed. “The investigation is related to the Haros and no further details are available,’’ authorities said.

Emmanuel’s body has not been recovered, but officials believe he is dead. The couple’s 2-year-old daughter is now in child protective custody. Jake, 32, previously served prison time for child cruelty. Despite the charges, Rebecca maintained her son is alive, saying, “I will not give up on my baby.”
