Paystack has suspended its co-founder Ezra Olubi over an allegation of sexual misconduct involving a subordinate, as decade-old explicit tweets intensify scrutiny.

Paystack, the Stripe-owned Nigerian payments company, has suspended its co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, Ezra Olubi, following an allegation of sexual misconduct involving a subordinate, according to a report from TechCabal.

The allegation, which began circulating on social media on November 12, 2025, prompted the company to issue a statement confirming Olubi’s immediate suspension and the launch of a formal investigation.

“Paystack is aware of the allegations involving our Co-founder, Ezra Olubi,” the company said. “Effective immediately, Ezra has been suspended from all duties and responsibilities pending the outcome of a formal investigation.” It added that it would not comment further “to protect the integrity of the process.”

The allegation has renewed public attention on dozens of explicit tweets posted by Olubi between 2009 and 2013. The resurfaced posts include graphic jokes about colleagues, minors, and sexualised depictions of anime characters.

One tweet from May 23, 2011, read: “Monday will be more fun with an ‘a’ in it. Touch a coworker today. Inappropriately.”

The tweets, which resurfaced Thursday, quickly spread across X, adding pressure as Paystack conducts its investigation. Olubi has not responded to TechCabal’s request for comment and deactivated his X account on November 13.

The situation comes amid broader concerns about workplace misconduct in Africa’s tech sector.

TechCabal reports that Stripe, Paystack’s parent company, has yet to comment on the matter.
