A Wike-backed faction of the Peoples Democratic Party has expelled Governors Seyi Makinde, Bala Mohammed and Dauda Lawal after clashes between rival groups at the party’s Abuja secretariat.

A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has expelled Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, and Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal following a violent confrontation between rival groups at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday.

The NEC also expelled former Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Senator Adolphus Wabara; former National Vice Chairman of the party, Bode George, and the recently elected party National Chairman, Kabiru Turaki, SAN.

The Wike-backed faction accused the governors of working against the party’s interests and went on to dissolve party executives in Oyo, Bauchi, Ekiti, Zamfara, Edo, and Lagos States. The dramatic expulsions mark a major escalation of the PDP’s internal crisis, exposing deepening divisions, competing power blocs, and an intensifying struggle for control within the opposition party as it battles for relevance ahead of future political contests.
