Former Ekiti Governor Ayodele Fayose has absolved President Bola Tinubu of blame for the deepening crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party, insisting the opposition’s problems are self-inflicted and beyond repair.

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has absolved President Bola Tinubu of any role in the ongoing crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying the party’s troubles are entirely self-inflicted.

Speaking on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme on Wednesday, Fayose declared that the PDP is “dead” and beyond revival, hinting that more defections from the opposition are imminent.

“President Tinubu should not be blamed for PDP’s problems. The PDP is sick and remains perpetually sick without a cure in view,” he said.

Fayose dismissed allegations that Tinubu coerced opposition governors into joining the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that recent defections by Bayelsa Governor Douye Diri and Enugu Governor Peter Mbah were motivated by personal ambitions.

“Let me tell you, there are three more governors that will leave soon. There will be five remaining. The five remaining, one of them will struggle to catch the ticket, and they all know that the ticket is an ordinary tissue paper,” he added.

He blamed internal power struggles among PDP leaders for the party’s collapse, accusing them of prioritising personal control over unity, and said he would not be part of any effort to “rescue” the party.
