PDP is now strong and solid, we’ve invited Obi to return — Jerry Gana

Jerry Gana, a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), says the party is reaching out to Peter Obi to return, following significant efforts to reposition the platform.

Speaking on AIT’s Focus Nigeria on Friday, Gana, a former Minister of Information and 2019 SDP presidential candidate, said, “Why not?” when asked if Obi had been contacted.

Obi, former Anambra governor, left the PDP on May 25, 2022, citing developments that “do not support constructive contributions.” He later joined the Labour Party and emerged as its 2023 presidential candidate, coming second to Atiku Abubakar of the PDP.

Gana said he leads a delegation reaching out to former PDP members. “He [Obi] is not the only person. We are also moving to other persons,” he said.

He insisted the PDP has resolved its internal crisis. “I have a very solid platform… ready to move,” he added.

Gana criticized the APC-led government, calling the economy “chaotic” and affirming the PDP is ready to reclaim power in 2027.
