PDP chieftain Segun Sowunmi accused Peter Obi of seeking the party’s presidential ticket without primaries while insisting the PDP owes the South-East political recognition.
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and ally of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Segun Sowunmi, has alleged that Labour Party’s Peter Obi wants the PDP presidential ticket without contesting in a primary election.
Speaking in an interview on Nigeria Info FM 99.3 on Wednesday, Sowunmi argued that the PDP owes the South-East a political debt, not Obi personally.
“Peter is someone who doesn’t listen. I told him more than three, four months ago that the time now is to return because the PDP owes the South-East a debt,” he said.
He added that Obi was reluctant to face party primaries. “Anybody that doesn’t want to do primaries is looking for somebody to cheat on his behalf,” he said.
Sowunmi also faulted Obi’s leadership in Labour Party, declaring, “Nigeria cannot be waiting for Peter. If Peter can’t be President as an Igbo person, one day we will find an Igbo person.”
