Peter Obi has condemned the killing of 13 worshippers in a violent attack on a mosque in Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State, blaming President Bola Tinubu for failing to curb Nigeria’s worsening insecurity.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday when bandits surrounded Unguwan Mantau village and opened fire on worshippers during prayers. Reports indicated the assault was a reprisal attack, leaving at least 13 people dead and several others wounded.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate described the killings as “unacceptable,” saying they reflected how little human life is valued under the All Progressives Congress government. “The killing of innocent souls is unacceptable, even more so when it involves people who had gone to worship their Creator,” Obi said.

He added that Nigeria’s challenges would persist unless issues like unemployment and poverty were addressed. He also offered condolences to the families and worshipping community affected.
