Peter Obi has criticised President Tinubu for celebrating revenue growth while pensioners remain unpaid, calling it “unjust and unacceptable.”
Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has faulted President Bola Tinubu for celebrating revenue targets despite the backlog of unpaid pensions and gratuities.
In a post on X, Obi said it was wrong for government to announce fiscal milestones while senior citizens, who devoted their best years to national service, were pushed to consider a nationwide protest.
“I read with deep concern that our pensioners… have been pushed to contemplate a nationwide protest over unpaid arrears,” Obi wrote.
He added that excess revenue should be directed to settle entitlements. “Revenue growth should first reflect in the lives of the people, especially those in difficult times,” he said, stressing that leadership must be tied to compassion.
