Obi also confirmed his intention to run for president again, saying, “If anyone asks, let them know I am in the race, and no one does it better than me.”
Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has reaffirmed his membership in the party while clarifying his involvement in the opposition coalition adopting the African Democratic Congress (ADC) platform ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking on Friday at a campaign rally for LP governorship candidate George Moghalu in Onitsha, Obi said:
“Let me put it categorically clear: I and the National Assembly members of the party are part of the coalition that has adopted ADC for the 2027 elections… But today, we are members of the Labour Party.”
Obi also confirmed his intention to run for president again, saying,
“If anyone asks, let them know I am in the race, and no one does it better than me.”
His remarks follow mounting criticism from the Julius Abure-led LP faction, which issued a 48-hour ultimatum demanding Obi’s resignation.
The party remains divided, with several leaders laying claim to its national leadership amid ongoing internal strife.
