Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, visited Daura, Katsina State, on Wednesday to extend condolences to the family of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari. Obi was seen at Buhari’s residence a day after the former leader was laid to rest.
Buhari was buried on Tuesday in Daura, following Islamic rites. His death marked the end of a significant chapter in Nigeria’s history, as he had served both as a military Head of State and a democratically elected President.
A funeral prayer was conducted by Sheikh Salisu Rabiu, the Imam of Daura’s Central Mosque, at 5:50pm before his remains were interred.
In a show of military tradition and respect, top Army Generals and Service Chiefs bore the former President’s coffin to the burial site. A 21-gun salute reverberated across Daura, symbolizing the final military honor to a national figure who had shaped decades of Nigerian politics.
