PETROAN has announced plans to suspend fuel dispensing for three days, joining NUPENG in protest over Dangote Refinery’s new CNG truck strategy.
The Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) has announced a three-day warning suspension of fuel lifting and dispensing starting Tuesday, backing NUPENG’s planned strike against Dangote Refinery’s CNG truck distribution plan.
PETROAN President Billy Gillis-Harry said the move aims to promote healthy competition and prevent monopolistic practices in the oil sector.
NUPENG had earlier declared a nationwide strike from Monday over alleged anti-labour practices linked to Dangote’s strategy to distribute products directly to end-users using newly imported CNG trucks.
Gillis-Harry urged President Bola Tinubu, the petroleum ministry, and regulatory authorities to intervene to avoid nationwide hardship.
He warned that monopolistic policies could force independent marketers, depot owners, and truck drivers out of business, triggering massive job losses.
“Any strategy aimed at gaining monopoly is a Father Christmas promise,” he said, urging Nigerians to remain vigilant.
The strike could significantly disrupt fuel supply if talks fail.
