“We must not pray for the ‘driver of the car’ to crash while we are still passengers. If the driver crashes, so do we.”
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) Ulama team has advised Nigerian pilgrims to pray for their leaders and not curse them, emphasizing that leaders are a reflection of society.
Speaking to journalists in Makkah on Thursday, Grand Mufti of Ogun State, Rafee Al-Ijebuwi, said, “Every pilgrim here should love Nigeria the way Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) loved Mecca.”
“As for our leaders, it is the responsibility of every pilgrim, male and female, to pray that Allah should inspire our leaders with what will benefit the masses.”
Chief Imam of Area 10 Mosque, Abuja, Sheikh Garba Al-Yolawi, added, “We must not pray for the ‘driver of the car’ to crash while we are still passengers. If the driver crashes, so do we.”
He urged pilgrims to seek divine guidance for the country’s leadership, noting that with sincere prayers from 50,000 pilgrims, “Allah can change things.”
