Police clarify viral video of young men arriving Lagos in droves

The Lagos Police Command has clarified that a viral video showing dozens of young men arriving in Lagos involves verified workers recruited for the Dangote Refinery.

The Lagos State Police Command has clarified a viral video showing dozens of young men assembling outside a company in Ibeju-Lekki.

Police spokesperson CSP Benjamin Hundeyin said 89 youths from Katsina were recruited as labourers for the Dangote Refinery.

“A contractor and the CSO of the refinery confirmed their identities and employment,” Hundeyin stated.

All individuals were searched, presented valid identification including NINs, and had no incriminating items.

He urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information, adding, “The Commissioner of Police urges residents to remain calm as the Command remains committed to public safety and law enforcement.”
