Police deny viral claim of arrest in Kwara church attack

The Kwara police command has debunked a viral video claiming the arrest of bandits behind the Eruku church attack, stating that no suspects have been apprehended and urging the public to avoid spreading misinformation.

According to THECABLE, The Kwara police command has dismissed a viral video circulating on social media that claimed vigilantes had arrested the bandits responsible for the attack and abduction of worshippers at Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Ekiti LGA. Police spokesperson Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi described the footage as “completely false”, stressing that no arrests have been made while security agencies continue intensified operations to locate the perpetrators and rescue the abducted victims.

She warned the public against spreading unverified information, noting that such misinformation can heighten tension and hinder rescue efforts. Meanwhile, the attackers, who abducted about 35 worshippers, have reportedly demanded N100 million ransom per victim.
