Police explain how to apply for tinted glass permit

The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has resumed the nationwide issuance of tinted glass permits following public complaints over the harassment of motorists with factory-fitted tinted windows.

According to Force spokesman, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the reactivation aligns with a directive from the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and aims to ensure a “clear, transparent, and accountable process.” Applications are now processed digitally via the Police Specialized Services Automation Project (POSSAP) portal at https://possap.gov.ng.

“Avoid shortcuts. Apply the right way—online, the official way,” the police urged.

Motorists must register, pay via multiple channels, and complete vehicle inspection and biometric capture at designated NPF offices. Adejobi emphasized the system’s ease and security, citing the need to regulate the growing use of tinted windows in modern vehicles.

“Tinted vehicles have often been exploited for criminal purposes,” he added, referencing concerns like kidnapping and robbery.
