Records show the police spent nearly N52m in December 2024 on feeding and allowances for IGP Egbetokun’s escorts, with payments linked to a firm tied to a serving officer.

Fresh records have revealed that the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) paid N51,927,480 for the feeding and allowances of escorts attached to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun in December 2024.

According to data on the Govspend portal, the Police Commands and Formations disbursed N25,963,740 on December 24 and 28 to Hamat Caterers and Entertainment Services Ltd, marked as “feeding and allowance of IGP escort for the month of November and December 2024.”

Checks showed Hamat Caterers, incorporated in Kogi State in 2013, is linked to Abdul Lasisi Jimoh, reportedly a police officer. A LinkedIn profile under his name also identifies him as such.

Further investigation revealed the company has received 17 payments totaling N318,427,417 between August 2023 and December 2024. On several occasions, it was paid over N18m for feeding 297 officers on guard duties in Maitama and other locations.
