“The Inspector-General has directed a thorough investigation to ensure justice is served.”
The Nigeria Police Force has launched an investigation into Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1, over alleged unruly behaviour that reportedly obstructed the safe operation of an aircraft at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
Force spokesperson, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said on Tuesday that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority petitioned the police over the August 5, 2025, incident, said to be in violation of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations, 2023. The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the Airport Command to conduct a thorough probe.
The dispute reportedly began when KWAM 1 refused to surrender a flask suspected to contain alcohol, later blocking the aircraft from taxiing. He has since apologised, insisting he meant no harm.
The NCAA suspended the flight crew’s licences and placed the musician on a six-month no-fly list pending investigation, amid calls for equal treatment in similar aviation offences.
