The Ogun State Police Command has uncovered a Cameroonian kidnap syndicate posing as visa agents, arresting two suspects after a victim escaped captivity and alerted authorities.

According to Naija News reporting, the Ogun State Police Command has busted a Cameroonian criminal syndicate allegedly involved in kidnapping victims under the guise of facilitating foreign visa processing.

The Command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, disclosed on Friday that officers from the anti-kidnapping unit apprehended two suspects — Ndzana Kamga Isidore and Tingue Stephen — during a sting operation at their hideout in Mowe, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. She confirmed that the gang leader remains at large.

Odutola said the operation followed a distress call from a Cameroonian woman, Kengne Maeva, who was lured to Nigeria on September 29, 2025, by a man identified as Donald, who promised to help her secure a Canadian visa. Instead, Maeva and her 23-year-old sister were detained in a two-bedroom apartment in the Pakuro area of Ogun State.

“Shortly after she arrived at Murtala Mohammed Airport, Lagos, she was received by the supposed ‘agency’ and taken to Mowe, where she and her sister were held hostage,” Odutola said.

Maeva escaped on November 3 and alerted police, leading to the arrests. The victims’ families had already paid 3.6 million CFA francs in ransom.

The Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has ordered intensified intelligence and surveillance to prevent similar crimes.
