The Nigeria Police Force says it has not been officially served with the Federal High Court order restraining it from enforcing the new tinted glass permit policy

The Nigeria Police Force has said it is yet to be officially served with the Federal High Court order directing it to maintain the status quo in the case challenging the enforcement of tinted glass permits.

Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, stated this on X (formerly Twitter) in response to a post by human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong, who shared excerpts of the order. Hundeyin wrote: “While we have not been officially served the court order you’re making reference to, let me, in the meantime, show point no. 8 since you left that part out. Nigerians deserve a complete picture, not a skewed one.” Point 8 of the ruling indicated that certain reliefs sought by applicant John Aikpokpo-Martins were refused.

The case, filed in Warri, challenges the police’s planned enforcement of a new tinted glass permit policy. The court had earlier directed all parties to maintain the status quo pending determination of the suit.
