Police in Oyo State have confirmed that a robbery incident in Ibadan left one officer injured after gunmen attacked a bank customer on Monday morning.
A police officer attached to the Oyo State Command was injured during a robbery attack in Ibadan, the state capital, on Monday. The incident occurred around 8 a.m. along Secretariat Road, Agodi, when armed robbers trailed a bank customer driving a metallic grey Nissan Primera with registration number EPE 901 PS. The victim was dispossessed of an undisclosed amount of cash.
Police spokesperson, Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the incident, stating, “Initial investigations indicate that an officer associated with the Oyo State Police Command sustained severe injuries during a confrontation that arose when his team on patrol engaged the suspects.”
He added that there were no fatalities and the injured officer is receiving treatment at a secure healthcare facility.
