You took this action during the 13‑month doctors’ strike that paralysed healthcare in your state.
The presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, has accused former Anambra Governor Peter Obi of hypocrisy, citing a 2010 incident when Obi reportedly donated state funds to Haiti amid a 13‑month healthcare strike in Anambra. The claim surfaced on social media, where users recalled the donation and criticized Obi for prioritizing foreign aid over domestic welfare.
Onanuga amplified the criticism, branding Obi a “hypocrite of the worst order,” following Obi’s recent condemnation of President Tinubu’s scholarships to St Lucia students while Nigerian institutions face persistent challenges.
“You took this action during the 13‑month doctors’ strike that paralysed healthcare in your state,” Onanuga said. “Bitter Peter is a hypocrite of the worst order.”
Obi’s office has not publicly responded to the allegations. Political observers suggest the presidency’s response aims to cast doubt on Obi’s leadership consistency, contrasting his charitable gestures abroad with unresolved crises at home, including healthcare worker strikes and dilapidated infrastructure during his tenure.
