President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially announced the death of his predecessor, former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, who passed away earlier today in London at the age of 82.
According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Buhari died at about 4:30 p.m. following a prolonged illness.
In the wake of the sombre news, President Tinubu has spoken with the late president’s widow, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, offering his deepest condolences and prayers for the family.
As part of national arrangements to honour the departed leader, President Tinubu has directed Vice President Kashim Shettima to travel to the United Kingdom immediately to accompany President Buhari’s remains back to Nigeria.
